Walkable Streets + Trader Joe's

What's Happening Around Mobile Bay

Howdy,

Read Time: 4 minutes

We left our everyday L.A. (Lower Alabama) and are visiting some lifelong Mobile friends in L.A. area (the California one).

One of our stops is a town called Santa Barbara, California. It sees 7 million+ tourists annually and has an incredible walkable street in the downtown area.

This just might get us back on the kick of trying to figure out how to advocate for a bit more street closure on Dauphin Street —- the experience of streets closed to automobile traffic on specific segments is amazing.

The area was covered with shops and dining experiences. There was a booming Saturday market (similar to our great weekend markets).

I mean, there were chairs in the streets, pianos to play on, and dining spilling into the street.

There is something special about being able to stroll an area safely and meander and wander from shop to cafe.

Which leads to another thought.

Can Trader Joe’s work in Mobile?

We think so.

This post went pretty viral with others who agree.

We wrote an article and teased a few locations where it can work.

In the article, you’ll also find a link where can vote for a Trader Joe’s to come to our location!

🦉 Owl Updates

The owl saga continues.

We’re starting to lose track of the number of attacks.

We think we’re at 9 attacks? (I almost lost count…)

And we’ve discovered that this owl is a hat collector!

Add another runner attacked by the owl. It got me this morning at the corner of Bexley Lane and E. Carmel Dr in Springhill. It went for my ponytail and grabbed my hat and hairband.

Lisa D.

We’re teaming up to outsmart the owls.

We’ll keep you posted and keep our owl article updated.

Stay vigilant.

Keep that head on a swivel, you early-morning runners.
