šŸŒž A Bit of News

Did you gorge yourself on wings and beer yesterday? Well, a Super Bowl party doesnā€™t deserve anything less.

Congrats to the Chiefs fans!

If you missed this yearā€™s party, the halftime event featured an artist we havenā€™t seen in a while. Weā€™re glad to see her thriving.

There are plenty of opportunities to walk off those wings in our ongoing Mardi Gras celebrations. Why not catch a parade or two?

I know the weather isnā€™t going to stop us from showing up for each other. The proof is the 5,500 turnout for the epic Mobile Mystics parade.

Now weā€™re getting into the spirit.

And if you havenā€™t gotten a chance to pick up your king cake yet, try and get one from ā€œBread by Beck.ā€

Check out the bakerā€™s inspiring story in the full article.

And while weā€™re not going to let a little rain dampen our spirits, I still advise you to take care out there. Things might get ugly on Thursday. Hereā€™s hoping that they wonā€™t.

Secret Mobile: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure

We just got our hands on a copy of this book and it's great!  Here's a bit of a teaser for you...

At a glance, Mobile is a reserved southern city, steeped in charm, heritage, and history. But look a little more closely and discover a winding tale of revivalist zeal, quirky contradictions, and delightfully ghastly scandals and scoundrels. In Secret Mobile: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure, youā€™ll unearth secrets of the past. People will be quick to tell you that Mobile is the birthplace of Mardi Gras in America, and theyā€™ll be even quicker to tell you about Joe Cain, the rebellious firefighter credited with restoring the Mardi Gras tradition following the Civil War, but is that really the whole story? Not even close. As youā€™ll quickly learn, when it comes to Mobile, thereā€™s always more to the story. Learn why the City of Mobile was twice burned to the ground, what famous Presidential quote was uttered in the historic Battle House Hotel, and how a tell-tale oak grew out of the grave of an allegedly innocent convicted murder. Youā€™ll explore new terrainā€•like how to join the cityā€™s most spirited kayaking group, where to find Hippie Beach, and the best way to see the iconic Middle Bay Lighthouse and the cow that lived there. Intrigued? Local author Amy Delcambre is just getting started. Sheā€™ll be your storytelling guide to explore all of the unseen threads that make up the fabric of Mobile and help you dive in to untangle the facts and the legends that make up the best of Mobileā€™s secrets.

šŸ• 2023 Eating Project...

Our goal is to eat at 26 restaurants during the year of 2023.

But there's a catch --- it has to be restaurants we've never visited, and we're going from letters A-Z.

A = Azteca'sB = Big Bad BreakfastC = Catalina Restaurant (see here).D = ???

We need your help!

Where should we go?!?

We're looking forward to eating our way through Mobile!
