Local Museum named one of Strangest in the U.S.

Mobile Alabama News

My friends,Mardi Gras is... complete.

I heard we welcomed more than 1 million people to enjoy the festivities while being nice to each other.Well done.

I saw plenty of ashy foreheads last week. They were for Ash Wednesday, which kicks off Lent. Those ashes were a visible symbol to remind us of our mortality. That we're dust and that one day we'll return to dust.(just in case you wanted to know why you may have seen some folks around town last week with what you thought were dirty foreheads!)

***Reply to this email with your best 2023 Mardi Gras photos (include your name if you'd like). We will create a recap photo album and include the best ones (we will credit you as a source)***

🌞 A Bit of News

This week’s news’ theme is Change. This is something that Mobilians have learned to embrace.

We recover from natural disasters, modernize our lifestyles, improve our skills, add to our traditions, and broaden our horizons.

One sign that we’re stepping into the future is saying goodbye to our morning newspaper. I suppose, these days, you kick off your morning with a cup of coffee and your phone.

And after you go over the news, you might daydream about the next vacation you’re going on.

Well, the ‘Spirit’ is open for bookings, and you might want to look into getting tickets because its cabins are filling up.

Maybe your kid is transitioning to high school. That is not an easy time.

Check out the full article for a story about a local teen author who published a book to help other students navigate academic life.

Outside our homes, babies are being born, ships are being christened, shops are opening, and city workers are training.

We’re all trudging forward, but of course, we’ll take a moment to look back from time to time.

Mobile knows how to honor its colorful history, and this shows in its many museums. Can you guess which one made this year’s list of the Strangest Museums in the US?

We also discussed Startup Weekend, a fun event designed around launching a business in less than three days!

You can watch our interview below and learn more about Startup Weekend here.

🍕 2023 Eating Project...

Our goal is to eat at 26 new restaurants during the year of 2023.

But there's a catch --- it has to be restaurants we've never visited, and we're going from letters A-Z.

We need your help!

Where should we go?!?

We're looking forward to eating our way through Mobile!
