Celebrate the Red, White, and Blue in Mobile this weekend!
Our nation is celebrating its 246th birthday (dang, she's starting to age like a fine wine) and weāre doing it right in Mobile again this year! Festivities begin this Thursday, June 30th, with a free Independence Day concert by the Mobile Pops at Cathedral Square.
4th of July weekend wouldnāt be complete without watermelon! Just outside of town, the 48th annual Grand Bay Watermelon Festival is always a hit especially with free, all you can eat, watermelon!
The big celebration is next Monday on July 4th with the cityās big celebration! Cooper Riverside Park is the place to be (unless youāre watching by boat.) The New Orleans Karma will be bringing the energy and sounds from 6-9pm along with food and fun for the kids until the best fireworks show around begins at 9pm! Happy Independence Day, Mobile!

Providing practical, cheap rehabilitation in a secure, safe, Christian setting is central to The Shoulderās mission of restoring individuals and their families who experience alcohol or drug abuse.
This program began in 1988 by a group of guys who realized that substance abuse treatment was essential in the community.
The Shoulderās mission is to lessen the negative connotations attached to drug and alcohol abuse.
To raise awareness of substance abuse problems and the resources available for treatment, they hold various workshops and outreach events.
There are two residential substance abuse treatment clinics in operation by The Shoulder.
Podcast interviews are still being released for Do Some Good Mobile --- the digital version is live now.

Let's face it, litter is a serious problem in Mobile. It's noticeable. But it's being fought on many fronts (education, litter patrols, cleanup, enforcement, etc.)Like we said, it's complicated. We wrote this article that talks about Mobile's litter in depth. Also, our friends over at Ransom Ministries just created one of the newest initiatives. It will employ homeless folks to help us pick up litter.Bravo Ransom, Bravo.
The Rundown is launching a kid pitch competition for REAL MONEY.We're talking Benjamins here.Know a kid that's always wanting to run a lemonade stand? Send them here.Or are you someone that wants to help us judge the competition? Get involved here.
