🌞 A Bit of News

This week, we have some news that will tug at your heartsprings, especially if you’re an avid moviegoer.

The closure of Crescent Theater in Downtown Mobile after a 14-year run raises questions about the future of cinema.

Have home streaming services won the battle for our attention? Are we doomed to watch the latest titles on the small screen?

Well, while this suggests that our eyes are pretty much glued to our TVs at home, that’s all the more reason to get off the couch, go out, and make connections.

Here’s the good news.

Community activities like the WeMo Market offers a chance to support local businesses and hang out with loved ones.

Shared experiences and a sense of belonging are crucial for building strong communities. We hope that the WeMo Market can continue to bring people together in new and exciting ways.

Mobile is a like a living organism. Establishments close, but news ones emerge as our needs and interests change.

🍕 2023 Eating Project...

Our goal is to eat at 26 new restaurants during the year of 2023.

But there's a catch --- it has to be restaurants we've never visited, and we're going from letters A-Z (hopefully in order).

A = Azteca'sB = Big Bad BreakfastC = Catalina RestaurantD = D is for Debris E = El Milagro y Taqueria y PupuseriaF = Front Yard Tacos

We need your help!

Where should we go?!?

We're looking forward to eating our way through Mobile!

🪅Do Some Good - Flower Power!

Flourish hosted its first-ever Flourish Fancy on Sunday, April 16th at the Historic Malbis Nursery. Attendees were greeted with delicious small bites, a mimosa bar, and high tea. While music played in the background, flower crowns were assembled with a wide array of spring flowers. It was a perfect day to celebrate all the good being done at Flourish. If you are not familiar with Flourish, it is a nonprofit organization for at-risk teen girls in the Mobile and Baldwin County areas. With its community center in Daphne, Flourish is able to provide teens with a safe place to gather. Flourish provides mentorships, self-care and self-esteem-building activities to teens on both sides of the bay. To learn more, check out page 14 of the 2023 Do Some Good Magazine.
